Lakewood East Dallas
Lakewood Dallas has become one of the hottest neighborhoods in the city over the past couple of years. With great schools, great location and wonderful atmosphere, it's no wonder people are flocking to Lakewood!
Located on the western banks of White Rock Lake, homes in the Lakewood neighborhood are accustomed to lush green landscapes and easy access to the expansive White Rock park system. Lakewood has many architecturally significant historic homes, exemplary Dallas schools, central location and a quiet neighborhood community. The Lakewood neighborhood is truly unique and finds itself perfectly situated in the middle of booming East Dallas to be among the most desirable neighborhoods in the entire city!
Homes in Lakewood were built originally before the 1950’s and have been lovingly maintained and extensively updated along the way. Over time, developers have built new homes in Lakewood which are generally larger luxury homes built to accommodate more open floor plans, high ceilings and large spaces that older homes weren’t designed for.
Recently, Lakewood has been the benefactor of many developments happening around the East Dallas area which continue to increase the value of homes in the area. The old YMCA at the corner of Gaston and Grand was moved a brand new facility slightly West on Gaston, the complex that has replaced it is a home to local stores like Lakewood Hardware and nationally known names like Starbucks and Luke’s Locker. More development is expected at the Gaston and Grand intersection which has long been in the planning phase of redevelopment and will be expected to bring more vibrance and life to the East Dallas area.
The Lakewood neighborhood is also home to several architecturally significant homes designed by architects like Clifford D. Hutsell, Charles Dilbeck and Roscoe DeWitt. Lakewood Boulevard is an exceptionally beautiful street and is a local favorite route to bike on the way to White Rock Lake.
Some of Dallas’ most exciting areas are exceptionally close to the Lakewood Neighborhood:

White Rock Lake
One of Dallas' largest and most beloved parks within walking distance!
The jewel in the crown of the Dallas parks system is White Rock Lake, a 1,015 acre lake created in 1911 as a reservoir for city residents. Since it’s creation as a reservoir in 1914, White Rock Lake has become a recreational destination and one of the most impressive urban parks we have. The serenity of the lake is preserved by a ban on motorboats which makes sail boats and kayaks extremely prevalent on White Rock Lake and ensures that the scenic lake is desirable for people who have lavish homes around the lake’s shore. Over 9 miles of bike and hike trail surrounds White Rock Lake and connects to a trail system that can get you to Plano, Downtown Dallas and the Katy Trail! At the northern point of the lake is one of Dallas’ most recently renovated dog parks. The White Rock Dog Park offers separate parks for large and small dogs as well as a “dog launch” into the lake for a swim! On the east side of the lake is the Dallas Arboretum, a 66 acre garden, 44 acres of which was donated by the DeGolyer family who once used it as a pecan orchard.
White Rock Lake is truly an amazing place and finding homes in Lakewood within walking distance is not an advantage to be overlooked. People from all over Dallas congregate at the lake and it is truly one of the most beautiful urban parks in Texas.
